Beliefs
GOD: God is the Creator and ruler of the universe. There is only one God, eternally existent in three co-equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1, 2, 26; Acts 17:24-28; Hebrews 11:3; Matthew 3:16-17; John 1:1, 14; John 4:24; John 10:30; John 14:9, 16-20)
HUMANITY: humans are created in the image of God. This means that we are both sacred and sinful. We are spiritual, moral, and relational beings. We were created by God to have a relationship with Him. However, we are separated from God by our sin. (Genesis 1:27; Isaiah 59:2; Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12)
JESUS: the only way to restore our relationship with God is by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Jesus lived a sinless life on the earth, but died a sinner’s death on the cross. Through His death and resurrection we can have our sin forgiven, and enter into an eternal relationship with God. (Luke 23:53; John 3:3-5, 16; John 20:24-29; Romans 10:9-10; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 3:13; Colossians 2:14-15; 1 John 3:8, 5:12-13)
HOLY SPIRIT: the Holy Spirit is the power of God in our world today. The Holy Spirit calls sinners to repentance, and empowers/equips believers for ministry in the church and world. (John 15:26, 16:5-15; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19; 2 Timothy 1:14)
CHURCH: the church is the community of believers that have made Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior. Through fellowship with the Holy Spirit, the church’s role is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, and serve the needs of a hurting world. (Acts 2:42-47; Ephesians 5:23)
BIBLE: the Bible is God’s word to humanity. It was written under the supernatural inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is holy and authoritative. It is the supreme source of truth, and the sole basis of our beliefs. (Mark 12:36; John 14:26, 16:12-15; Acts 1:16; 1 Corinthians 2:12-13; 2 Timothy 2:12-13; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
Trinity: we believe that the God of the Bible is the only true God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 13:14)
Salvation by Grace: we believe that a person comes into a right relationship with God and is “saved” by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ (Matthew 26:28; Romans 5:17; Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 Peter 1:18-19; 1 John1:7-9)
Authority of the Bible: we believe that the Bible is the word of God and has the right to command our beliefs and actions (Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 5:18, 24:35; Romans 15:4; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12)
Personal God: we believe that God is involved in and cares about every individual human being’s daily life.(Psalm 121)
Identity in Christ: we believe that a person is significant because of his or her position as a child of God. (John 1:12-13)
Water Baptism: we believe that water baptism is an outward expression of the inward work of salvation. (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12)
Baptism of the Holy Spirit: we believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as an experience that empowers the Christian. (Luke 11:13; Acts 1:7-8; Romans 8:26-27)
Humanity: we believe that all people are loved by God and need Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. (John 3:16)
Compassion: we believe that God calls His church and His children to show compassion to those in need (Psalm 82:3-4; John 25:35-40)
Eternity: we believe that there is a heaven and a hell and that Jesus will return to judge the earth and to establish His eternal kingdom. (Matthew 24:36-42; John 14:1-4; Acts 1:10-11, 10:39-42; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; 1 Peter 4:5)
Stewardship: we believe that everything a person owns belongs to God. (1 Timothy 6:17-19)
