There is no doubt that the second coming of Christ and End Times are hot topics in just about any social circle of friends. People of any age want to know, “Are we living in the last days?” “When is Jesus coming back?” “Am I out of time?”
With all those questions there is A LOT of debate on what the answers are. Plenty of good-hearted people are very passionate about this topic. For me, in any discussion I have, as long everything points to Jesus and does not cause division, I’m good. The reason I feel this way is because all scripture points toward Christ. There were tons of prophecies in Old Testament about the coming Messiah and, of course, Jesus fulfilled every single one through His life and death. With that being said, there are even more prophecies about His 2nd coming. The Bible has A LOT to say about the 2nd coming of Christ, nearly all the books in the New Testament make reference to it.
Jesus teaches about it in Matthew 24:44 saying, “You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.”
There are a few things that we can rest assured:
1. Jesus will return.
2. Nobody knows when.
So how does this really answer the questions that so many people have? For me it reaffirms the fact that I am called to live each and everyday with purpose and passion for Christ. If I were to meet him by my passing or His return I want to know that I have lived my life in righteousness and obedience. That I had accomplished the purpose given by God that is beyond anything I could do on my own in order to bring Him Glory & further His Kingdom. Hopefully you will do the same.
So here is how we do that:
2 Timothy 4:2-5 Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching. 3 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will reject the truth and chase after myths. 5 But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you.
The Church is God’s plan to bring the message of The Good News of Jesus Christ to the world! Let’s do that with truth and grace!
